Today is a sunny day. Nick and his class are going on a school trip to the zoo. Nick is very excited.
– "Mike, do you like the zoo?" asks Nick.
– "Yes! I love lions!" says Mike.
The children get on the big yellow bus. Mrs. Brown counts them:
– "One, two, three… All here!"
At the zoo, they see many animals: elephants, monkeys, and penguins. Nick’s favorite is the giraffe because it is tall.
– "Look, Mike! The giraffe is eating leaves!" says Nick.
– "Wow! Its neck is very long!" says Mike.
Then, Emma sees the lion.
– "It’s scary!" she says.
– "No, it’s cool!" says Mike.
After lunch, Nick drops his sandwich. A small bird takes it!
– "Oh no! My sandwich!" says Nick.
– "Haha! Now the bird is happy!" laughs Mike.
At the end of the day, the children go back to school. Nick is tired but happy.

– "Oh no!" says Nick. "We are in trouble!"
– "What do we do?" asks Mike.
Mrs. Brown comes out. She looks angry.
– "Who broke the window?" she asks.
Nick and Mike look at each other.
– "We did it, Mrs. Brown," says Nick. "We’re sorry."
Mrs. Brown is still angry, but she says:
– "It’s good that you told the truth. But you must be careful next time."
The boys nod.
– "We will," says Mike.
After school, Nick and Mike help clean the classroom.

Today, Nick has a spelling test. He is nervous.
– "Mike, I don’t know all the words," says Nick.
– "Don’t worry! I’ll help you," says Mike.
Before the test, Mike and Nick practice:
– "How do you spell 'happy'?" asks Mike.
– "H-A-P-P-Y," says Nick.
– "Good! And 'school'?"
– "S-C-H-O-O-L," says Nick.
The test starts. Mrs. Brown says:
– "First word: 'apple'."
Nick writes A-P-P-L-E. He knows this one!
But then comes a hard word: "elephant". Nick is not sure. He looks at Mike, but Mike shakes his head.
– "No cheating, Nick!" whispers Mike.
Nick tries his best: E-L-E-F-A-N-T.
After the test, Mrs. Brown checks the answers.
– "Nick, 'elephant' is E-L-E-P-H-A-N-T. But you did well!"
Nick is happy. He got eight out of ten!
