Ульяна Солнечная – Its Never Too Late - As Long As Youre Alive (страница 19)
And that was all.
Nothing more was needed.
By evening she was so tired her legs ached.
But it was a good tired.
An earned tired.
She stopped at a little restaurant she found by accident — she had simply looked through the window and seen a cozy room with red tablecloths and candles on the tables.
“Une table pour une personne?” asked the waiter, a handsome young man.
“Oui,” Kate said confidently.
She was no longer afraid of those two little words.
They brought her a menu. Kate looked at the French names and understood almost nothing. But there were pictures next to every dish, and that saved her.
She chose something with chicken and vegetables, and a glass of red wine.
The wine was light and slightly dry.
She drank it in small sips and felt warmth spreading through her body.
At the next table sat a group of young people. They talked loudly, laughed, clinked glasses. Someone was playing guitar.
Life was bubbling all around her.
Kate watched them and did not feel old.
She felt part of the evening.
Part of the city.
