What seems like a simple "find and return" case turns into a series of bloody crimes. The novel has received awards and accolades, including being listed in "Crime and Mystery: The 100 Best Books." It has been adapted into films such as "Time to Kill" (1942) and "The Brasher Doubloon" (1947). In Polish, the novel is titled "Wysokie okno."
