Она получила степень бакалавра в Калифорнийском университете в Беркли, степень магистра в Нью-Йоркском университете и докторскую степень в Йельском университете. В настоящее время работает научным сотрудником во всемирно известном Центре женского репродуктивного долголетия и равенства при Институте Бака. Она живет в Северной Калифорнии в области залива Сан-Франциско со своей семьей.
